Two weeks of rescuing and I’ve started seeing crayfish when I close my eyes! 😩😍

We’ve been out rescuing thousands of #fish and native white-clawed #crayfish in rivers across the #Midlands during the hot weather. 🐟

Here, 184 crayfish were rescued from the dry Escley Brook in #Herefordshire and relocated to a nearby spring which was still flowing.

The last of over 500 crayfish to be released into a new ark site in the Malvern Hills. Establishing this new population helps to safeguard the future of this endangered species.

This #wetland project was a partnership between @EnvAgencyMids, local landowners and the @ShropHillsAONB. As well as being valuable #habitat for wetland birds, the pools and #NFM measures help store and filter agricultural and highway runoff before it enters the river.

The #greenroof we recently installed at our @EnvAgencyMids office serves an important function for drainage by storing and slowly releasing rainwater. It also provides valuable urban habitat. The before and after photos speak for themselves in terms of the aesthetic benefits!

Eel passes on our weir sites are working well as migration begins. We set traps to check them routinely and look as these two little beauties we found making their way upstream! Fantastic to see our passes are working and healthy Eels in our rivers! ❤️

It’s amazing how this little ADCP boat can produce such fantastic bathymetric data. We’re installing a new river flow measurement sensor on the river Tern and it’s crucial we know the exact river depths and geometries beforehand.

Great day with @ATMLtd installing owl nest boxes in barns on the #RiverWye and #Riverlugg providing additional habitat near @EnvAgencyMids assets.
