@OurLadyofAntifa I might have misread the first season, but I actually found it incredibly pious and moving in its own way. A satire of the ways Catholicism is satired, if you will.
@opinonhaver Now that I live here I understand the key to the Midwest: they are literally 15-20 years behind the coasts. Every trend from 2006-2012 is in right now, and that includes voting for Barack Obama. I know ow it sounds arrogantly coastal, but it’s just how it is here.
Another books give-away, this time a collection of translations of Greek and Latin classics! A generous reader donates the pamphlets owned by long-serving teacher Mary Hardwick. Ironically, schools once banned these books! Draw is on Wed. eve: RT and follow to throw your hat in!
@duns_sc0tus You and I are not friends (though I admire you) but I do not think I it would fit with the slightly cranky ace vegetarian Episcopalian - never mind I see it now
@MissalModernist @WB_Baskerville@duns_sc0tus@agostino_harry Pertaining to your observation that the “ensouled zygote” should make many of us more hesitant about s*x. I am - for this very reason. It haunts me.
@duns_sc0tus Eh, is my soul ugly because my physical person is? Is there something wrong with the soul of my chromosome-abnormal BIL? This is not an easy knot to untie
@JakeOfOnline Not in the way an academic is. But it definitely helps to have high level content knowledge to teach the kids who vary upward. Kids can learn anything. There is very little for a teacher to teach if they are not motivated to learn.
@kisstheblade_ The first time I held my child I understood why I could never take such a vow. Sex, whatever. But cradling Archie in my arms? I would leave a monastery every day for him.
@common__pleas @willmenaker Whenever people talk about re-wearing pants I want to know how they go about whole day without getting some stink ass on their pants.
@ClwnPrncCharlie wtf is the tie situation? Also that chicken neck kid needs to button his top button. I can’t, but that’s because I have the bull neck that comes with the name Smith.
Well, as the memory of summer still lingers, there's space for one last Loeb giveaway. This time it's Republican Latin: three vols of oratory & one of Ennius, father of Roman poetry!

@dsaorthocaucus Dude I had to bite my tongue as a 6yo kid shouted “fuck you” at his mom/g-ma/nanny tonight at youth soccer. Like shouted it maybe a dozen times as he stormed off. Pray for that kid, something is not going well for him
@PortlyNord@Kaleb_Atlanta Honestly think there is a right answer for each individual kid and it’s extremely hard to know what it is even for your own kid. My now-6yo quit self-harming once we shifted home, and he told me he feels bad that I have to spend all day in a school building (I’m a teacher) lol
@dwaldenwrites I’d love to chat more about this as I attempt to build a HS Latin classroom that involves substantial reading (in English) to supplement what Latin we can learn given our constraints.
@dsaorthocaucus And again it’s probably technically my fault - but it’s mostly a function of the drivers not knowing how the bike is trying to time his move, or not knowing that a dead stop usually is more dangerous for a cyclist (bc some drivers will jump the gun when its the bike’s turn to go)
