Throughout our nation's history, over 1.3 million Americans have died while serving in the U.S. military. The last Monday in May is set aside to honor the sacrifice and the service of these men and women who gave the "last full measure of devotion." Let us show our gratitude for their selflessness this Memorial Day.
According to a new report from the Census Bureau, four of the five fastest growing cities and towns in the United States (with populations of 20,000 or more) are located in Collin County.

Collin County 2nd in United States in Population Growth
County adds 42,966 from 2024 to 2025
MCKINNEY - According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Collin County ranked second in the United States in population growth between July 1, 2024 and July 1, 2025. During that time, the county’s population increased by 42,966 people, reaching a new estimated population of about 1,297,179. The only county to experience greater growth within the same period of time was Harris County, Texas, which added 48,695 people to a much higher base population of 4,996,331 in 2024.
In addition to Collin County, four other Texas counties ranked among the top 10 nationally, including Harris County (#1), Montgomery County (#4), Fort Bend County (#8), and Williamson County (#9).
Collin County has consistently ranked among the fastest growing counties in the nation, placing in the top four fastest-growing counties for five consecutive years.
MCKINNEY - On Monday, April 6, 2026, the Collin County Commissioners Court voted to approve the sale of the Collin County Adventure Camp to the Circle Ten Council of Scouting America.
After extensive discussion, the court approved the sale in a 3-2 vote. Although two other bids - submitted by Huffines Enterprise Land Holdings Development (Huffines) and Horizon Capital Partners LLC - offered higher purchase prices, they did not include plans to preserve the camp's original purpose as an outdoor youth facility. During the discussion, Commissioners Cheryl Williams and Duncan Webb expressed their preferences to sell the property to Huffines for the highest offer of $28.15 million, but Judge Chris Hill and Commissioners Darrell Hale and Susan Fletcher voted in favor of the Circle Ten Council offer to prioritize preserving the original intent and mission of the camp.
In 2001, Collin County voters approved $26 million in bonds to fund the development of the Collin County Adventure Camp, and the camp officially opened in 2006. For nearly two decades, it has provided a dedicated space for youth programs, outdoor education, and community activities; serving local schools, scout groups, and other organizations. The offer of $26 million matches the amount originally approved by the voters of Collin County to establish the adventure camp.
"This decision reflects our commitment to honoring the community’s original vision, ensuring the camp remains a place where the youth of Collin County can learn, grow, and connect with nature," said Collin County Judge Chris Hill.
Under Scouting America ownership, the camp will continue to operate as an active outdoor adventure and educational environment, supporting programs in camping, STEM, and leadership development. While the site's new focus will be scouting activities, the camp will remain accessible for broader community use, continuing to serve the schools, families, and local organizations of Collin County.
