When we were preparing to go to Iraq in 2005 we had an Iraqi who had fled Iraq, and ended up in the employ of the CIA briefing us on culture, and Ramadan came up.

One of the senior officers in the auditorium spoke up quickly, and started to say we should not drink, eat, or smoke in front of Iraqis during Ramadan, to respect their culture.

This CIA dude immediately locks eyes with this officer and asks very loudly

“WHY?!”

The officer was a little caught off guard, and before he could answer the CIA guy started explaining.

“You are American, you are Christian, you DO NOT celebrate Ramadan, and if you don’t carry on as an American during Ramadan it will be seen as weakness. It reinforces their idea that their god is the only true god, and that all others will bow before Islam.

If they don’t offer you a drink when you come to their home, ask for one, during Ramadan!

Make them respect you, or they will attack you more because they see you as weak.

They are asserting their dominance, and if you falter in the slightest they see you as less than them.”

That stuck with me, and it was true.

You could see they didn’t respect the guys who went out of their way to accommodate them, both in the way they acted towards American troops, and in the number of attacks on US Forces in the areas.

A modern, industrialized European state decided that every single Jew on earth (man, woman, infant, elderly, disabled, convert, atheist, even war heroes) must be hunted down and murdered for the sole crime of existing.

Arbeit wurde zugewiesen. Kapital floss dorthin, wohin der Staat es brauchte – nicht dorthin, wohin freiwilliger Tausch es gebracht hätte.

Sobald der Staat über Produktion, Preise, Mengen und Arbeitskraft entscheidet, ist der Eigentumstitel eine leere Hülle. Dann ist es Sozialismus.
Ob der Staat die Fabrik enteignet oder den Fabrikanten zum Befehlsempfänger macht – das Ergebnis ist identisch: Keine freiwillige Kooperation, keine Preisfindung durch Angebot und Nachfrage, keine Verantwortung für Verlust. Nur Zwang.

The language sits in the Morocco assistance section alongside the directed $40 million in funding. Its classic appropriations report jargon. signal political preference and encourage the State Department to keep talking, without actually changing any legal status or borders.
It’s still dumb and unnecessary, but it’s not a secret transfer plot. It’s signaling favoritism toward a preferred partner while funding them. Massie turned “we like Morocco and want talks” into “GOP greenlit giving away Spanish territory.” That’s the oversell.

It means exactly what it says: non-binding committee report language (not the bill text) that notes Morocco’s claim and says the committee “supports efforts by the Secretary of State to encourage diplomatic engagement” between two sovereign countries on a longstanding dispute.
That’s it.
• No transfer of land
• No change of borders
• No recognition of Moroccan sovereignty
• Zero legal force
• Congress has no power to hand over Spanish cities anyway
Calling Spanish cities “located in Moroccan territory” and talking about their “future status” is dumb and provocative report language. It is still not “greenlighting the transfer.” Report language is not law. Massie knows the difference and is stretching it.

Why stop there? Let’s just turn over anything the government has ever done and pretend it’s identical to a random blurb in a subcommittee report. WTF. Name one single time a note buried in a subcommittee appropriations report has ever had any binding effect on anything that actually mattered, let alone transferred territory abroad. You’re talking like a low-IQ Massie conspiracy nut. Be specific and intentional. What exactly are you claiming this non-binding report language has done or will do? Cite a concrete instance where report language like this changed sovereignty, borders, or facts on the ground. No “people like you are the problem” vague retardo grandstanding.

You’re conflating things. Yes, stuff has been snuck into actual appropriations bills over the years that actually mattered and became law. Never has anything been buried in a subcommittee report on appropriations in this way that has ever actually mattered or transferred territory.
I agree the wording is inappropriate and has no place in the paperwork. Also, Massie is a disgrace and he’s spinning this into something it isn’t. Two things can be true.
