FFTCG player/judge going back to Opus II in 2017! Judged the 2024 North American Championship and Portland Materia Cup. Placed 4th at 2023 Portland Materia Cup.
It's '20 Questions' again on Episode #32 of Rules Round-Up with quite the buffet of topics to go over. We've got some G'raha slot machines, question the care and feeding of Fat Chocobo, and awkwardly observe some child endangerment in Jecht's household.

@FFTCG_SQEX I cast Alexander and select the first action. Later that turn I cast Lunafreya and my opponent casts Amaterasu to cancel her auto-ability. Does she receive 8000 damage or 6000 damage from Amaterasu?
@FFTCG_SQEX Is the intention for his ability to read as printed: "If you control 7 or more Characters, Dion can prime to pay [Water][1] instead of paying the Priming cost."?
It reads now as if you are priming him in order to pay [Water][1] instead of paying [Water][1] in order to prime him.
@FFTCG_SQEX Will Dion be receiving an errata in English? His field ability looks as if it should instead read as:
'If you control 7 or more Characters, Dion can pay [Water][1] to prime instead of paying the Priming cost.'
A new set means it's time once again to go FAQ Checking! Find out why cards like Titan, Yoran-Oran and Shadow are treading new ground, as well as why Bahamut (XVI) is a PROBLEM. Let's go FAQ Checking!

@FFTCG_SQEX I control Aerith and play Axis. Axis’ effect puts 3 Final Fantasy VII Characters from my deck into the break zone. Does Aerith trigger for the first VII Character that was put into the break zone or do I get to decide which character her auto triggers for?
@FFTCG_SQEX Would 11.8.12 apply in this scenario?
"If an auto-ability has effects that apply differently to different cards or players (...) If the ability assigns values to multiple cards and/or players, the player has to assign a value of at least 1."
@FFTCG_SQEX I cast Alexander paying only with CP produced by backups. When the Summon resolves my opponent’s Forward has become an invalid target.
A) Do I still get to draw a card?
B) The next time my Forward is dealt damage, which Forward will receive the damage?
@FFTCG_SQEX Regarding the errata text: Player A controls Bahamut, player B casts Onion Knight with no legal target for its auto-ability. Does Onion Knight's auto 'use up' Bahamut's cancel that turn even though it was removed from the stack by the rules because of no legal target?
@rulesprocessing@loomisasher We plan to issue an errata for Bahamut stating “When an auto-ability from your opponent's Forward is put on the stack.”
Thank you for pointing that out.
@FFTCG_SQEX 11.11.2 of the Advanced Rules says “If the Summon, action ability, auto-ability or special ability on the top of the stack chooses one or more targets but all possible targets have subsequently become invalid due to changes in conditions, its effect is cancelled”

@GodzillaMendoza@ikindaplaydrums Turns out their meddling in Egypt in the past had a butterfly effect that resulted in US Presidential terms now lasting 5 years instead of 4.
In which case, does Player B still discard a card? Or does Yoran-Oran only prevent those abilities from being canceled due to a card’s effect like Amaterasu or Jecht Block?

Player A controls Yoran-Oran and Nelapa. Player B casts a summon and Nelapa’s auto triggers. Player A selects both actions, choosing a Forward. When Nelapa’s auto resolves the chosen Forward is invalid. Does Yoran-Oran prevent Nelapa’s auto from being cancelled by the rules?
