To have a state, there's a simple test. It's called the Montevideo test. It comes from the Montevideo Convention in 1933, and it's a four-part, four-element test.

The four elements are:

1. Do you have a defined population?
2. Do you have defined borders?
3. Do you have the capacity to conduct foreign relations?
4. Do you have a single effective government?

There's a couple things to understand about this. The first thing is that Israel, despite being called an illegitimate state, is actually a very old country.

I don't mean ancient Israel. I mean, the Israel that was founded in 1948 was founded at a time when there were only 58 countries in the world. It became the 59th state.

So people always say, "Oh, this newfangled creation, Israel." No, no, no. Israel's older than roughly two-thirds of all the countries in the world. And in fact, it was created in precisely the same way and at about the same time as many of the decolonized states in the world that were just drawn as lines on the map by European colonialist powers.

It's the same thing with many of the Arab countries. Iraq was drawn up that way. Lebanon was definitely drawn up that way. Syria was drawn up that way with no regard for their indigenous, in many cases, local minority populations.

Lots of countries in Africa were created this way. Cameroon was created this way. Part of South Africa and Botswana were split off this way. We could talk forever about the dozens of countries that were created just the same way Israel was, and nobody ever protests them because there's no Jews there, right? So there's nothing to protest.

The point here is that Israel met in 1948, and has met every second of every day since then until today, all four of the Montevideo Factors.

Income Tax Initiative Update!! Everybody hates the Income tax

-As we mentioned earlier we gathered 92,780 signatures in the first week
-But the make up of those signers is interesting.
-We ran a voter ID model on all the signers so far

49.64% are Dems/Indep
50.24% are Republican

-However, 27,655 of those 92K signers have never signed even one of our other initiatives in any prior year
- The party make of new signers is as follows:
Republican 36.49%
Independent 33.21%
Democrat 30.29%

64% of those who have never signed an initiative but did sign IP26-645 to stop the income tax , so far, are either Democrat or Independent.

This is not a partisan issue
-People understand the tax is coming for them.
-They don’t trust Olympia to spend the money wisely, and
-they seem to be really pissed about the unconstitutional approach taken by Jamie Pedersen and Bob Ferguson

I don’t know if Dame Helen Mirren was at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, but if she was, she might have heard the Hungarian director László Nemes attackthe “shameless orgy of anti-Semitism overtaking the West”. But whether or not she was there, she has certainly experienced that orgy of antisemitism herself.

A video has emerged on social media of Dame Helen being assailed one night in London by a passer-by. “It’s Helen Mirren, the avowed Zionist,” shouts the man to the video he has clearly decided to film as he sees her. Addressing the viewers of the video he knows he is going to post, he continued: “She said, ‘Israel should last forever because of the Holocaust.’ And she was very happy the Palestinians’ houses were gone… You’re an evil Zionist bitch.” Then the man turns to her husband, Taylor Hackford: “And you and all. F––k you and all.”

Dame Helen remains composed throughout this verbal assault, which would have been frightening for anyone, let alone for someone aged 80. Her husband, meanwhile – also in his 80s – responds with a restrained but clear: “F––k off.”

The obsessive Jew-haters who have adopted the Palestinian cause have long singled out Dame Helen for special opprobrium. Her “crime” is twofold.

First, although she is not Jewish, she has played a number of Jewish characters, not least the former Israeli prime minister Golda Meir. But she has also been clear not only in her rejection of the cultural boycott of the Jewish state which so many of her fellow actors endorse so as not to upset the rabid antisemites who demand it, but also in her support for the existence of Israel. That alone damns her.

For all that I wish Dame Helen had not had to experience this verbal assault, a part of me hopes the video is widely circulated. That’s because it shows the mindset – deranged is the word I would use – of those who spend their lives hunting out Jews and those who have no animus against Jews, ostensibly in support of Palestine.

Jew-hate is no longer an abstract phenomenon. It is rising exponentially, and it is a real, physical thing. It is seen en masse in the hate marches. But it is also found in day-to-day life, as with the maniac who assailed Dame Helen.

For all that I want this reality to be seen, the statistics show that Jew hate spikes when there is an incident which receives publicity. I might hope that showing people the truth about how these people behave will have a salutary effect. But the worry is that the more people see someone famous being attacked in the street simply because they don’t hate Jews, the more others will copy such behaviour.

Such is the twisted world of rising antisemitism in which we now live.

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office in Portland, Ore. released dramatic video of a hit-and-run crash on I-84 involving a semi-truck on May 18.

The truck clipped a commercial water truck while changing lanes, causing the water truck to crash and roll into a wooded area.
