Sad abt the closure of Gtr Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation. A loss for staff & VCS infrastructure-tough for vital linking, research, supporting orgs.GMCVO taught me much when I was CEO-hope it's legacy is retained.@NAVCA@Sims75@MikeWildMacc https://t.co/6Fx2ZKrEV6
Govt is far too centralised in this country and often operates in silos, so the greater devolution to regional govt being announced today is welcome, provided they engage with citizens at local level and work with civil society to create better, preventative, joined up services.
If the govt is going to deliver its missions where others have failed, it should work in partnership with the charity sector from the start, bringing their expertise, reach and knowledge of what works to their mission boards - the message sent to the PM by charity leaders today.
We're at Sheffield Town Hall today, talking to people about health and social care at the 'Diabetes & Me' event. Thanks for having us @Sheffield_DUK 🤗
What an amazing opening event for Personalisation week this evening at the Winter Gardens #Sheffield. Such a joyous atmosphere! Look out for the other events around Personal Assistants and Social Care in the city centre @SheffCouncil#PersonalAssistantAndProud
This month we've welcomed @SACMHA1 as our newest community partner.
They do great work supporting people in the city, especially around health and social care. We look forward to continuing to work closely with you to amplify people's views and make positive change 🥳
Good to hear @wesstreeting#bbclaurak talking about doing with, rather than doing to NHS staff, and his job being to give them the tools, as part of a team. Far more likely to deliver change than Lansley type reorganisations. But patients/civil society must be in that team too.
Gathering intelligence about & from the VCSE is so https://t.co/V82ReWZboC helps to influence policy makers & to tell an informed VCSE story.

Have you completed the VCSE Barometer Survey Wave 8 yet? Share your views with @VCSEObservatory@ProBonoEcon about what’s happening right now in your #VCSE organisation.
The findings are used to influence key decision-makers.

Important report by @age_uk showing how older people are not getting the care they need, which leads to avoidable personal crises and pressure on hospitals. A good example of charities using their knowledge to inform policy. I'm hoping Govt is listening https://t.co/Oq9iJ2DDVB
Leaders are often promoted into positions without essential people skills. They may have longevity, strategic thinking, the right connections but they never say “how are you really doing?” “thank you for everything you’ve done” or “I’m sorry I got that wrong” Leadership is this.

" local community & voluntary organisations filled the gap"( of local council response & provision). So says Grenfell Inquiry.
Vol. sector often fills
gaps but what's needed is partnership, recognition & resource from local & national govt so people get proper support.
@NAVCA
Healthwatch Sheffield always identifies good experiences of health & social care & there's a lot but, where practice is poor we'll call it out.
🎉We heard some really positive feedback about local GP practices at a SACMHA celebration event last week.
👍Here are some highlights about Pitsmoor Surgery
