The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. @R_Nabbanja has unveiled the National Cleaning Days Initiative under the slogan “A Clean Uganda is Everyone’s Responsibility”

It will take place every last Saturday of the month from 7:00-10:00am where all public activities will be paused except emergency vehicles. This is a mandatory exercise for everyone to ensure cleanliness and good hygiene in order to prevent diseases.

They have now remembered to arrest and detain over loafing school buses....🙄🙄

Police @CPS has arrested & detained 02 school bus drivers for dangerously overloading buses transporting pupils of St. Kizito Primary School to a tour.
The suspects have been identified as Kimbugwe Alia, the driver of UA 092AS, who was found carrying 110 pupils, Mutesasira Abubakari the driver of motor vehicle UAN 619X, who was found carrying 97 pupils.
The 02 buses were intercepted today @GolfCourse during a traffic operation. The 02 drivers have since been charged with the relevant traffic offenses & are currently detained at Kampala CPS pending appearance before court.
Police is working with the school management to ensure pupils are safely transported to their destination using appropriate means of transport.
Meanwhile @police together with other key stakeholders is working on the guidelines aimed at improving the safety of school transportation to minimize the increasing number of road crashes involving school children. This will be communicated in due course once the consultative process is concluded.

Road accidents involving school children, and other citizens have gotten to alarming levels.
According to statistics of Traffic Police Directorate, about 5400 people die of road accidents annually, that is 15 people on every single day!
We must comprehensively address road carnage in Uganda. It is a crisis that ought to be nipped in the bud.
