Sales success boils down to three pillars:

1) Trust:
Either your personal brand carries you, or your company's brand does.

I heard a lot of web3 people don't believe in cold reach out or SDRs in web3, but the truth is that if you believe that sales in web3 is just about relationships, then you do not really know sales. Best sales people have relationships because they have a strong personal brand, but it is the outcome of the process, not the reason they are successful.

As a sales person you want to invest in your personal brand, as a company you want to invest in your branding and marketing in order to maximize your part of this influence.

2) Math:
Don't hunt $1M in a $5M market. Aim for a market size 100x your goal to account for the funnel squeeze.

You need to believe in your value proposition and existence of the market you can sell in. If you do not think the market is there just start looking for the other job. This will also help with timing because being pushy is not good for sales. You want to have many concurrent open opportunities in order to do good scalable sales.

3) Timing:
Listen more than you speak. Follow up to stay top-of-mind for when they are ready, not when you are desperate.

This is why good sales people that instill trust also end up building relationships. They are not there to always actively sell to you but they are here to always timely follow up and provide value if they can. This is what makes people like you professionally, and in many cases like you personally.
