This letter signed by over 500 Hoosier physicians expresses disappointment with the treatment of Dr. Caitlin Bernard and was published today in the @indystar
This affects the entire house of medicine
@willyhfrick This is a good question! I don’t use man/woman at all in my HPI intro anymore since I usually don’t confirm with the patient. I think I would write “25yo on estrogen for gender affirmation” even though it is a mouthful.
In this simple 🧵:
I will do my best to inflict damage on a standard 0.032" central line wire by using the #11 scalpel blade that comes with the kit.
There is one minor bit of clinical relevance to this, and it is somewhat counterintuitive...

@willyhfrick Their argument was that even if the patient did clearly have an infection, the profound hypotension could have just been from their known POTS. (?!?!?!)
My dad was paged into the hospital today because a patient wanted to see him. When he arrived, the patient was someone he had seen many years ago at a different hospital, when he was a new attending. He wanted to see my dad to give him this as thanks.
Thirty years. 🥺

“I did not sign up to see people die needlessly” Watch this courageous testimony from Dr. Bosslet, pulmonary, critical care physician. All our professional societies @accpchest@atscommunity@SCCM should amplify! Thank you @gbosslet#PeopleILookUpTo https://t.co/sOyh19FPV4
On call today and admits so far have been COVID, COVID, flu, COVID, COVID. All unvaccinated. Two asked if they could get their vaccines now. They can’t, but you can. #GetVaccinatedNow
@Strongylady @IUMedSchool We did a survey of IU house staff with house staff forum last year about this! Let me know if you don’t already have the data and I can send it to you
Our weekly summary of hospitalizations for #COVID19 shows increasing total hospitalizations and a striking difference between those who have been fully vaccinated and those who are not.

Courtney is a bright light. ☀️ She and @ishah24 volunteered to cover ICU nights during the second wave so other residents would get a break from 24-hour calls.
Thanks @WRTV & @nikkidementri for telling our stories from COVID-19 unit. I’m honored to share the resident perspective on what the pandemic has been like:

@GrahamCarlos I bet the conversations would be fewer and shorter if we could charge the insurance company for that time the same way we typically charge for our patient care time.
This week marked the end of our year as Chief Residents @IUIntMed. While there are many things I wish were different this year, I could never ask for a better group of co-chiefs to get through one of the most challenging and yet exciting years.
Forever #IUfamily
I would like to recognize my former attending @LauraHinkle18 for her good humor the time that I was post 24-hour call in the ICU and, instead of using the patient's name my note, I wrote "Dr. Hinkle is somnolent but arousable to voice."
