@QueenReba63@Heather71486076@vasilupagus@schallerp65@SenSchumer my answer to your question is that there are no true orphans. Children have families already, the best thing is to help them stay together. That's the alternative to adoption, which has terrible consequences for the adoptee.
@QueenReba63@Heather71486076@vasilupagus@schallerp65@SenSchumer This is more likely to be a term applied with adoptions from third world countries, where children are stolen and traded. It also happens in Western countries, in Australia Indigenous children are still being removed from their families. It's disgraceful.
@AndeStanley1 @Hide_N_Seek217 I didn't know that! Thank you. I have had it recommended also, but I've always felt a negativity towards it. Now I know why, I will definitely never watch it.
@QueenReba63@Heather71486076@vasilupagus@schallerp65@SenSchumer All adopted people have parents, they didn't come out of thin air. Many of these biological parents are considered unfit by those with the power to take them away. Many adoptions have been forced. We need to support parents and their children.
@NewLifeHomeKE Adoption is about theft and possession. More often than not, the results are devastating. Love is a word that is loaded, it means nothing.
@steepien_@chill_james_@Heather71486076@vasilupagus@schallerp65@SenSchumer How condescending of you to say that. You have no idea about my life. In fact, therapy, along with all the research I have undertaken whilst writing my memoir, plus all the connections I have made in the adoptee community, make me an expert on this issue.
@Heather71486076@vasilupagus@schallerp65@SenSchumer adoption is a curse I wouldn't wish on anyone let alone a young baby who has no opportunity to consent. Love is a dangerous defence in thus situation, it usually stands in for something else entirely. It is also used to emotionally blackmail.
