@dieworkwear Genius lines! “This is why Justin Bieber dresses like someone who just got out of prison for making methamphetamine. He wants to look cool.”
@pmtrudeau @ChaseZaba It would be a system where a few people in power would decide who matters and who should benefit from the system, and that the only people who matter are people who happen to be useful to the system.
@fietsprofessor I'm not saying people who drive bloated cars are careless drivers. But there is a tendency to behave with more care, the more vulnerable one is. For example, motorcycle drivers are usually pretty careful.
“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex. It takes a touch of genius —and a lot of courage— to move in the opposite direction.”

@coons_christian@CiurriaMichelle This is not specifically why I left, but it surely added to my reasons. I am so sorry for your position. I hope you can find another university where you can shine once again as an academic.
@Isabelwilkerson Come on over to Blue Sky! It is very easy to sign up there now and much more pleasant than here. (I'm tweeting at you because I'm doing a photo of books I own by authors I follow on social media.)
@azarnafisi Come on over to Blue Sky! It is very easy to sign up there now and much more pleasant than here. (I'm tweeting at you because I'm doing a photo of books I own by authors I follow on social media. Plus you are the reason I got on Twitter in the first place, in 2013!)

@witandstars To survive, we need water, food, and shelter. Clothing is also shelter. That's why I loved the bug head net I wore hiking the AT, because it gave me shelter against the gaze of other people, and against the bombardment of other sensory stimuli.
It is a really jarring moment to be a historian. To know what might be coming is alarming. To realize that no one around you sees it or acknowledges it is a weird place to be in. Its like time traveling without time traveling. 1/8
There were other issues that they raised but the main point I wanted to convey is that the hinge was on what it means to be “different.” Not about being just different from Trump, but different from the same old same old entrenched politics that people are wholly angry at. 8/12
