Our country’s global reputation, influence and identity is built upon incredible creative talent, is it fair to give it away for free to big tech?
@JuliaRowan6, our Head of Policy and Public Affairs, argues in the AI edition of The House magazine that if we don’t put in robust protections now, that’s exactly what could happen.

I did a lecture back at my old Uni last week on "How to be a composer in an AI world" and thought I'd write up some of my notes as a thread. But when I looked at tools to help get all your tweets in a row, they very much seemed to want to write the thread themselves, using AI ...
We welcome today's @CommonsCMS report on Creator Remuneration, which makes important recommendations to ensure creators are fairly paid when their works are used.
It is particularly encouraging to see the Committee recognise the vital contribution of songwriters and composers to the industry’s success and the need to protect and grow the value of musical works to ensure creators are fairly paid for the use of their works online.
We strongly support the Committee’s renewed recommendation for government to develop mechanisms to ensure creators can enforce consent and receive fair compensation for the use of their works by AI developers. Protecting the value of human creativity is paramount to the UK's music and creative sectors.
We will continue to proactively engage with the government, including via the forthcoming Creator Remuneration Working Group.
