Precise targeting for TUS is crucial. However, images for navigation are often acquired in a different position even though positioning of the head has considerable impact on brain shifting; a problem which has not been discussed enough in the TUS community.
New letter by me and @JuliaSCrone in @brainstimj about the implications of brain shift in model-based planning for ultrasonic brain stimulation.

I totally agree! Especially considering that there are not just 2 theories out there and even if - falsifying one (which btw hasn't been done either) does not verify the other!
i have been mulling whether/how to say something this since the press releases started coming out 4 days ago, but feel i need to say something now.
i am deeply disappointed in how the media has covered recent findings in consciousness science.

I think this is very important to raise awareness and start a serious discussion. I am not sure pausing development is a solution though since probably not all countries would commit. Thus, there's even more need for pushing consciousness research
1/🧵 I'm happy to co-sign this new open letter calling for massively increased support for research into consciousness, in the face of the rapid acceleration of AI. 🙏🏽 @JohannesKleiner &c for leading the initiative .@theASSC .@CIFAR_News@BBCTech

In collaboration with the Medical University of Vienna, we are recruiting German-speaking, healthy participants for a clinical study on ketamine, hedonic experiences, and depression in Vienna. Please distribute!
@joel_frohlich@Comadork@ComaRecoveryLab@SSarasso1 @PaoloCardone5 @jdsitt @CharlottMaschke @dragamana@ugpavlov@AthinaTzovara Well, depends on the age but definitely minimal conscious state. But I am not sure what the point is you are trying to make here - since this scale is developed to assess recovery from coma, it measures behavioral functions in adults that indicate awareness.
Is there something special about an artist's brain? We might be able to answer this question with the help of people with neurodegenerative diseases.
