The father's professional webpage called out this child's gender, because it was so important that a "girl" was born into the family for the first time in generations.

They were obsessed.

@wildred1976 This is ridiculous bullshit. I know the family. This child presented consistent gender dysphoria from the time they were five or six years old all the way into high school, when they left the state. I assume the dysphoria continues today.

That's either 1) a totally inappropriate way to bring up a new concern or 2) the first public symptom of a long-standing private pattern. Either way, he wanted to embarrass her into submission and publicly demonstrate his control.
