Hey #Sciencetwitter: I'm recruiting 1-2 PhD students to join the Wildlife & Water lab at @UGAEcology w/ some funding available for work on Nature-based Solutions, (freshwater) biodiversity & bird conservation, ecohydrology, & wetland ecology. Please share w/ friends/colleagues!
@GuloThoughts Do you know how to tell that it’s in the snouted weevil family and not the fungus weevil family though? Even though he lacks the snoot? 😈
I’m excited to share another fascinating timelapse to inspire the masses on this lovely Friday!
P.S. If you’re curious about participating in our community science project on monarch disease ecology, visit https://t.co/vm87cAZwIc or email me at [email protected]
@ATinyGreenCell Haha, isn’t it wild?! My understanding is that, during the hours when the caterpillar is hanging upside down like that, the outer cuticle is separating from a new inner cuticle, which is actually that green wiggly pupa. We just don’t see it until the old cuticle molts off quickly
@predpreysara @altizer_sonia and I will mate them to rear butterflies for our experiments this summer. Broadly, we are investigating how infection with the protozoan parasite OE affects monarch migration
