The good news is, there are treatments available. The problem is that we only tell women about these on the back end after they’ve suffered and delayed care: this is damage control mode. Women deserve to GO INTO birth armed with what resources are available to them postpartum.
I’m convinced that nobody goes into pregnancy knowing what a Urogynecologist is because then we’d have to admit up front WHY Urogynecologists need to exist (and why there’s a 6 month waiting list to see one).
What if I told you that men have almost zero understanding of what their looksmatch actually is because they grew up on a steady diet of porn and media like this?
it first it was “if you don’t want intimate photos leaked, don’t send them to anybody” then it was “don’t take them at all” and what is it now that men are generating them without our consent? I’m sure they’ll have an excuse and I’m excited to hear it!
You don't need them to validate your reality. Your reality is already valid. Your experiences matter.
Not everyone is worthy of hearing about your wounds.
all of their parents had been in on it and knew we were getting pulled out of school.
we got in the car and made the hour drive to a family friend's lake house.
They let us use their boat and tube on the lake all day long.
and it's still my favorite birthday.
Also shout out to my PT, who spoke with me at length yesterday about my vertigo and my symptoms since the loss of my brother. He was straight up like “Coming in isn’t going to help right now, you need to go back to Italy for 3 weeks.”
Sometimes I just want a sign on my forehead. I think Anderson’s cooper said that once. I went on a walk with a friend who lost his brother right before mine last weekend. He told me it helps to hear someone say “that’s fucked” and it really does lighten the load to talk about it.
I also can’t sleep til like 2 am every night so maybe that’s it. Ugh. See that’s what I’m saying, I never do random Twitter threads like this so I guess I’m not OK. Thank you for coming with me on this journey through my stream of consciousness. I feel no shame so that’s new haha
lol this morning I was like “I’m doing OK” but it’s not until after I write 10 pages in my journal I realize “Ok, I’m doing OK now… but I definitely wasn’t OK earlier” haha
I'm all for "mocktails" and sobriety in general but these restaurants can't keep getting away with selling, like, pineapple juice and a spritz of bitters for 18 dollars. That's should be eight bucks maximum??? Our sober brothers and sisters deserve better.
Lemme tell you what this show is, I was halfway through it earlier in the year and one night I got home from work and wasn't in the mood to watch something stressful so I opted to watch a 9/11 documentary instead
