Turns out I hadn't read the email correctly, they infact havn't auto renewed my policy. My mistake.

Ladybird insurance "auto renewed" my car insurance during the weekend (when their phone line is not staffed), almost a month before it expired, with no quote, or even confirmation of how much they'd charged. Super shady behaviour. Cancelling on principle regardless of price.

@ErselAker Which is probably why many people don't want to do it if they're honest. Spotting, then filling, gaps in any idea is hard work. It's the same reason writing is hard, and powerful, it forces you to face gaps in your thinking.

@martinrue @mattpocockuk I've always fixed that by writing a type guard, never occurred to me you could use the "is T" syntax in line though for some reason.
