Stella is delighted to announce The Jaguar by Sarah Holland-Batt (@the_shb), published by @UQPBooks, as the winner of the 2023 Stella Prize. #2023StellaPrize
Poverty is the biggest barrier to education. $1.11 is all it costs to keep a girl in school for a day in Sub Saharan Africa. I am running in the #Bridge2Brisbane to raise money for @Camfed's One Million School Days campaign and would love your support - https://t.co/PZRXcB1PVm
Very pleased to be appointed Director of the Workplace Gender Equality Agency. A lot of important work to be done and big shoes to fill following the exceptional leadership and advocacy of Libby Lyons @WGEADirector @WGEAgency @MarisePayne
The brilliant @Kate_Jenkins_ speaking about the role of bystanders & the difference between noticing sexual harassment & doing something about it. Talk openly about #sexualharassment - before it happens, not only when it happens @FutureWomen@JamilaRizvi#IWD2021
Today the Australian Parliament acknowledged that all is not ok. Strong action is needed to restore dignity and respect. The review into culture to be led by Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins is critical. I fully support the Review. #ThankYouBrittany#LetHerSpeak
Privilege to be part of @UNWomenAust#IWD2021 in Bris today. You could hear a pin drop listening to #GraceTame and then @kirstinferguson and #ShelleyCable ensured that no one was left with any doubt that more action needed to ensure workplaces and communities were #safe and equal
Rape: Attitudes that excuse the perpetrator, blame the victim, mistrust women’s reports of violence, and disregard the need to get consent, are all too common. Levels of agreement in Australia with rape-supportive statements, from 2018 NCAS report: https://t.co/paYlaRdgGh
Brittany Higgins you are a very strong and articulate young woman and you deserve to have a great future ahead of you. Brittany, thousands of people applaud you for speaking out. Could not have been easy. 🙏🙏🙏 And well done, @Lisa_Wilkinson@theprojecttv@samanthamaiden
At a time when women’s rights are so vulnerable, on of Australia’s leading advocates will have a seat at the table ensuring countries are actively enshrining the Convention of the Elimination of Discrim against Women #CEDAW
Australia has won a #CEDAW seat! My heartfelt thanks to many, especially @MarisePayne for championing this bid & to wonderful civil society. I thank Member States for their votes. I pledge to serve with independence, diligence & compassion. It’s an honor to follow Elizabeth Evatt
Funding in the federal budget for the Respect@Work Council recommended in @Kate_Jenkins_' report on sexual harassment is great news for every Australian worker & workplace.

Did last night's budget deliver on the idea of a fairer Australia? Our #Budget2020 equality and inclusion report card shows mixed results

$240m for women’s workforce participation. I can’t even...
Clearly it’s time to get out the annual reminder on how much Australia spends on school chaplain participation. #Auspol#budget2020@WomensAgenda
Fantastic to see increased investment in in-home care & improving standards & quality of residential #agedcare . But we mustn't forget older workers who, like young workers are disproportionately impacted by #COVID19 & have less access to re-skilling and other employment programs
50% (min) of the 1M new jobs in last night's budget need to be for women. Given the industries those jobs are in, and the lack of spending on childcare, seems unlikely. It is going to be very important to ensure industries where spending is committed set gender hiring targets.
WATCH: “This recession is really different from the 90s and 80s recessions in that it has hit women harder and yet there doesn’t seem to be a huge amount for women in the budget.”
@annabelcrabb on who misses out in #Budget2021#auspol@david_Speers#Insiders
‘Buying a truck is one way of increasing productivity. Hiring a childcare worker not only provides a job, but frees up another person to do another job. Why doesn't this ever seem to enter the equation?’ @annabelcrabb#ShareTheLoad
Was I the only person hoping to see funding for a national anti-racism strategy in tonight's budget? Disappointing not to see greater acknowledgement of the experience of racism or increased funding for refugee, asylum seeker and migrant services. #budget2020
Welcoming the inclusion of $7.6 million for parents experiencing stillborn babies or the death of a child under 12 months of age. Employers also need to play their part by ensuring access to paid leave for parents who experience #stillbirth or the death of a child #budget2020
