You’ve heard of a female physician being mistaken for a nurse, but what about being mistaken for a chaplain?

One time I ran into a patient of mine running errands. I was at the only cobbler in town to see if I could salvage a pair of shoes. He was the cobbler. I was his PCP. Just two people who pursued a calling that is not as flashy as their peers. I felt seen.
One of the small joys of being a clinician educator is watching interns call each other “Dr. Smith” or “Dr. Doe” when they’re in the workroom. It’s always half joking, but it really warms my heart.
Happy first day to all our doctors starting their intern year!
Have you ever received rejections from 3 different journals regarding 3 different projects you’ve submitted all in one day? Or am I setting some kind of record here?? This is not for the faint of heart 🥲 #academicmedicine#medtwitter
Rounding on a patient at 9am Sunday morning and they ask “why are you not at church?” - ma’am, cuz I’m here taking care of you!! I like to think God’s gonna give me a pass for this week. #HospitalMedicine#InpatientLife
I admitted a patient who had legitimate potential to use D-Dimer as a rule out for PE to stop us from getting a potentially unnecessary CTA. I brought up the utility a D-dimer may have to the team and my interns booed me 👎🏼. This next gen of doctors is something else 😅
In what I think was a sign of respect, a nonagenarian husband of a delightful patient I’ve been taking care of this week absolutely insisted on calling me “sir” because “that’s the respect any doctor deserves.”
Like alright, fine by me, at least you know I’m the doctor 🤷♀️
My team and I were chatting about watching @TheBearFX. Then while running the list later, my intern & upper level respond only with “Yes, Chef!” when I assign them tasks 😅. Incredible. #GME#residency
Presenting at #SGIMSouthern@SocietyGIM on our AI education for @WakeForestIM residents in regards to publishing & presenting. Great session hearing educational and clinic innovations at programs across the region!
Slow clinic on a sleety morning- I hear the residents formulating a plan for one of them to venture out and get them all coffee. Got to walk up as they wondered if I would crush their dreams and instead whip out my credit card to cover coffees for us all 😎 #AttendingLife
In this month’s issue of #SGIMForum, authors Eckelbarger, Stern, Grant, Lippert, and Williams explore how residents challenged the “back in my day” mindset to eliminate 24+-hour call shifts. Drawing on real-world residency reform, they highlight how resident leadership, shared accountability, and a commitment to leaving things better than they found them can drive meaningful change in GME culture and physician well-being.

My name is actually Dr Anne Kroman. My father's name is James. He is very proud. However, he is not a physician and was not involved in the actual implant. I'm all for family inclusion, however sometimes us female physicians do get to do fun incredible things too!!
Had a bad week. Journaled about it. A few months later decided to see if anyone would think my experience was worth sharing…

In the hospital, I asked a sweet little old lady I was admitting about her alcohol use. She said she didn’t drink. She then gasped and corrected herself - “Doctor I’m sorry- I do take a sip of communion wine each week.” I said thanks for telling me, i’ll allow that 😅.
As early career faculty, when you give a lecture everyone tells you to prepare for questions. No one tells you to prepare for when your intern has an AI bot listen in and make a country music song about your lecture then plays it for the room. Tough to recover.
