I have been privileged to serve and represent the people of Glenrothes West and Kinglassie as an SNP councillor for the last 10 years.

I entered this position as a young 23 year old woman and have had the fantastic opportunity to serve as Fife's Depute Provost for 5 years/

However, as we grow, our personal and professional circumstances can change. As such, I have had to make the difficult decision and have, this morning, written to Ken Gourlay, Fife's Chief Exec to advise him of my intention to resign from my position as a Fife councillor./

Sickening male predation of women is utterly pervasive in our society and it must be stopped.

@menzies_mr To be honest, I wouldn't have any problem with opening up a debate about free schools...

@menzies_mr Faith based, they'd be failing if they weren't, but you couldn't just simply close them and merge with the local non-denominational school, it wouldn't work or be fair. I don't believe we need to redress the current set up, but if you do, there needs to be radical overhaul

@menzies_mr Maybe Fife schools are more focused on the religious teachings then, as my memory is regularly attending church and having our local minister at our assemblies (primary and hs). And I know it still happens at schools here. As I've said, I don't doubt Catholic schools are more 1/2

@menzies_mr Right now you pay towards pupils going to their local CoS church for Christmas and Easter celebrations. Surely that would also need to stop, then?

@menzies_mr You have to view them under the same scope and have a whole rethink of our education system, how we deliver it and continue to meet the standards expecting under the 1980 Act (unless you amend it). I do think it would be sad to see all religious teachings lost from our schools

@menzies_mr I don't disagree that they aren't as religious, I think that's a product of the two different religions and their beliefs and practices, but even accepting that they're 'mostly areligious', you can't simply focus on one and argue for their demise, but ignore the other. 1/2
