Things Covid has proven:
1. The job you were told couldn't be done remotely can be done remotely
2. Many disabled workers could have been working from home, but corporations just didnt want them to.
3. Internet is a utility, not a luxury
4. Universal healthcare is necessary
@pushrequest Big companies do, but you have to make the case of how it benefits the company. Managers are more likely to approve it if you plan to teach your coworkers what you learn. That multiplies the benefit.
@ianmiell Totally depends on what you’re working on. I used basically all of them in my first role, practically none in my 2nd. If your predecessors haven’t set up any GUI tools, it can be easier to just use command line than to install a bunch of things yourself.
