Unless Scotland is to become nothing but an importer, without any kind of culture of its own. But a culture of festivals will only impoverish resident artists who are expected to make work for those festivals for a pittance. Or give up entirely.

The reality of the situation, however, is dire;

It means government priorities have shifted, it means promises unkept, it means the arts in Scotland is going to have to shift further towards capitalist models if there’s still to be a space for unestablished artists to make work.

If we’re TRYING to look on the bright side, hopefully this means more focused funds can emerge.

Pitting EVERYONE against each other was never a sustainable model, imo.

However, they need money to reshuffle, and money to fund art.

Open Fund for Individuals has supported almost all the work I have made to date.

We need clarity and funding from @scotgov now, if they want to ensure there is in fact a culture sector TO fund in the future.
