An excellent 2-day bike/train trip from Antwerp: train from Antwerp to Liege, 35 km cycling to Maastricht, overnight Maastricht (💯), 40 km cycling to Genk via Hoge Kempen Natl Park, train to Antwerp. Thx to @atepoorthuis for the perfect routing (he swears by @osmandapp).
Once every four years since leaving the US, I am reminded the fax machine still exists because it is my primary method to send in my vote from overseas. Some things live on. Let’s hope the Democratic presidency is one of those things 💪
@BrodEU@Caro_Bxl Nice, good to see some examples. I’d love to organize a design competition to see what else is possible. Visibility, sturdiness, lack of steal-ability, portability…I guess there are lots of parameters to play with.
Should we call them footpaths or signpaths? Just a few of the obstructions while walking the city today. Curious if other cities have found a better way.
Getting ready to vote in my first local election as an Antwerpenaar. Thx to @LVSVAntwerpen for the candidate debate. Mobility was most discussed topic: LEZ, investment in/free transit, 30km zones, cycling, role of cars. Great to see it high on agenda but still iso my party…
“A developed country is not a place where the poor have to have cars. It’s where the public transport is so good even the geese want to take it” (Semi-paraphrased)
Congratulations to you, Nymphia Wind @66wind99, for being so accomplished in the difficult art form of drag, and for being the first Taiwanese to take the stage and win on @RuPaulsDragRace.
Right after being crowned queen, you said “Taiwan, this is for you.”
Taiwan thanks you for living fearlessly.
TIL: “go by shank’s pony” is an old term for traveling by foot.
Poster spotted in the Hackney Museum in London, said to be commissioned by Ministry of War Transport during WWII.
(Don’t ask me what the other poster that says “Leave the children where they are” means though…)

TIL: in Taiwan, people can take photos of drivers committing traffic/parking violations and report them to the police to issue a fine. People hate it because it breaks trust w/n society. But many also hate the horrible driving.
My happy place: restaurants with three items on the menu (even better, just on the wall, no menu needed and definitely none of that QR-code nonsense). I’ve already made the effort to choose the restaurant, I don’t want to allocate more brain cells to also choose what to order.
