Ok @DeeSandy20 let’s settle this age-old debate before someone starts prescribing honey like Panadol.
Does honey have any advantage over sugar?
Short answer: Yes - but calm down, it’s not a miracle drug.
Here’s what honey has that we should celebrate:
• Contains tiny amounts of antioxidants that sugar doesn’t have.
• Has antibacterial properties - especially raw honey.
• Soothes sore throats better than sugar.
• Has a slightly lower glycemic index, meaning your blood sugar rises just a little slower.
Then for sugar;
• Gives you energy.
• Um… gives you energy again.
And that’s it. Please clap for sugar @DeeSandy20. 👏
BUT WAIT! Before you start drinking honey like a soft drink…
Honey is still sugar. Your pancreas still sees it, screams, and gets to work.
So whether you’re taking 3 spoons of sugar or 3 spoons of honey, your body will still report you to @kisubi_hospital by 6pm and we shall be there waiting for you.
SO TO WHAT EXTENT IS HONEY BETTER?
Summarizing it gently:
Honey is “better” in the same way someone who arrives late by 10 minutes is “better” than someone who arrives late by 2 hours.
Still late… but at least they tried.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS FOR YOU @DeeSandy20:
• Honey = slightly healthier, mildly useful, tastes nice
• Sugar = empty calories with no certificate of performance
Use both sparingly, love your body, and stay sweet (naturally).
