This morning, we hosted the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey.
Sheโs in Uganda on a fact-finding mission, following concerns raised over gross human rights violations, particularly those reported during the recently concluded General Elections.
Ugandas is a signatory to the Commonwealth Charter, which outlines commitment to democracy, good governance, human rights and the rule of law.
Our Country has been placed on a formal agenda to review human rights and democracy standards, following human rights violations.
Was a great pleasure spending some quality time yesterday evening with @NUP_Ug Deputy President, Hon. Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, who was recently released from 8 months unjustified detention. We continued to welcome him from the nasty ordeal and discussed various matters of interest to the cause. You can't help but draw inspiration from his consistent journey fighting for freedom and democracy.
Am not independent yet ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ while am still struggling to get capital, when things are high, when our Economy is down, when i have seen one President ever since i was born, when i don't practice my rights, how can i be independent.

Simple description of Uganda at 64: a sad truth, yes, and this is the reality we find ourselves in. What a shame to be born under such ugly, dictatorial administration. Yet, amidst all these challenges, we continue to strive, remain hopeful, and stand proud of our country. Uganda is bigger than its leadership, and despite the struggles we face, our love for our nation remains unshaken.
I LOVE YOU MAAMA UGANDA ๐บ๐ฌ THE PEARL OF AFRICA โ๐พ
Very pleased this evening to receive back our comrades Mugumya Gaddafi, Wakabi Grace Smart and Kabege Majid. Gaddafi and Smart have been detained for close to 20 months without trial while Kabege has spent close to 9 months in detention. The pleasant coincidence is that Gaddafi and Kabege are biological brothers and have been released on the same day albeit the different courts and charges - all trumped up. Very grateful to all those who continue to demand for the freedom of all political prisoners as well as those who support them legally, financially, spiritually and in all other ways. We must continue working to put an end to this situation where so many citizens lose productive years for simply believing that their country deserves better leadership.
