5/ We uncovered that upon rDNA damage, nucleolar Pol II binds to intergenic rDNA sequences, generating R-loops. These R-loops recruit DDR factors, playing a pivotal role in the early response to rDNA damage and the nucleolar DDR response. 🧬✨
1)🚨 Excited to share the first preprint from my lab @SVIResearch as it celebrates 4 years! 🎉 This work defines local surveillance mechanisms within the nucleoli that activate the DNA damage response (DDR) when DNA damage occurs at rRNA genes (rDNA) https://t.co/5abWNz4KcY
What Actually Triggered the Nepal–Tibet Border Flash Flood?
A massive ice and rock avalanche from a glacier triggered a chain reaction near the Nepal–China border. The avalanche and debris blocked the river, forming a temporary barrier lake. When the blockage gave way, a powerful surge of water, mud and debris rushed downstream, causing devastating flash floods across Gyirong in Tibet and Nepal’s Rasuwa district.
GLACIAL COLLAPSE → DEBRIS BLOCKAGE → TEMPORARY BARRIER LAKE → BREACH → DEVASTATING FLASH FLOOD 🌊🏔️
