Sobre el tema Kostyuk y que no salude a las rusas, quiero deciros una cosa ya que lo vengo viendo toda la semana, leyendo cientos de críticas hacia ella.

Desde un sofá, con tu tele, tu internet, tu calefacción y tu comida es fácil opinar sobre otros, sin saber NADA de lo que realmente pasa.

Las tenistas rusas no tienen la culpa de la guerra, obvio, pero hay que tener en cuenta algo que cambia todo: los deportistas representan a su país. Kostyuk representa a Ucrania, cualquier tenista rusa, a Rusia.

¿Y qué sucede con esto?

Aunque ellas no lo quieran, pueden ser usadas como armas políticas. Las tenistas ucranianas no saludan a las rusas o bielorrusas porque el gobierno ucraniano tomó la decisión de no saludar a sus homónimos rusos al reunirse para negociar. Es su decisión.

Se trata de respeto a su país. A su gente.

Si Kostyuk diese la mano a una rusa, aunque Andreeva no tenga culpa de nada, que no la tiene, ¿sabéis lo que eso implicaría? Sería usado como imagen en contra de los suyos. Sería como insultar a su país.

Además, su familia, que vive allí, serían muy mal vistos por su propia gente. Kostyuk, Svitolina o cualquier tenista son vistas como héroes. Eso provocaría problemas para sus familias y una ofensa a su gobierno y su ejército, que se juegan la vida por ellos.

Solo un ucraniano sabe lo que se siente que vengan a invadir tu país tirando bombas y matando a tu gente. ¿Quién es nadie para decir cómo deben sentirse o actuar?

Como seres humanos, con estas actitudes, lo que veo es cómo nos hemos deshumanizado por completo.

Antes de opinar sobre si saluda o no saluda o insultarla por ello, la gente debería ponerse en su lugar y entender por qué hacen eso.

Y aunque una rusa se nacionalice austriaca, sigue teniendo familia rusa y esa imagen también podría ser usada como os he dicho a nivel político.

Las familias allí sufren cortes de luz durante gran parte del día. Imaginen lo que es vivir sin calefacción a 10 bajo cero. Les destruyen las casas, hay falta de suministros y viven amenazados. Los hombres, además, tienen prohibido salir del país.

Piensa en cómo te sentirías tú si tus padres, abuelos, hermanos y amigos estuvieran en esas condiciones, y si no harías lo que fuera por evitarles más problemas y sufrimientos.

Lo que debería es acabar esta maldita guerra para que volvamos a la normalidad de una vez y no tengamos que hablar de política tras la victoria de una tenista en un WTA 1000.

Spain is playing a dangerous game with China.

Not because attracting Chinese investment is a bad thing. On the contrary: Spain has a real industrial opportunity. Batteries, electric cars, green hydrogen, electrolyzers, renewables, ports, industrial land, and direct access to the European market.

In 2024, Chinese companies announced 33 direct investment projects in Spain, a record for the country. The most prominent example is the CATL-Stellantis gigafactory in Zaragoza, with a planned investment of up to €4.1 billion and up to 50 GWh of capacity. Other projects include Chery-Ebro in Barcelona, Hygreen in Andalusia, Envision in Extremadura, and other initiatives related to electric vehicles and green energy.

The positive takeaway is clear: Spain can become a European industrial hub for the energy transition.

But there's also a troubling aspect.

China isn't coming to Spain for the love of paella. It's coming because Spain offers three things: abundant renewable energy, an automotive industrial base, and access to the European single market.

And here's the key question:

Is Spain attracting Chinese investment or is it becoming China's back door into the EU?

Because they're not the same thing.

Attracting investment means factories, skilled jobs, local suppliers, R&D, and technology transfer.

Being a platform means providing land, subsidies, permits, and access to the European market while technological and strategic control remains outside.

The line should be clear:

Industry, yes.

Critical infrastructure, no.

Batteries, electric cars, green hydrogen: negotiable.

Wiretapping, police networks, sensitive telecommunications, strategic state data: red line.

And that's where Huawei comes in.

The problem isn't blithely claiming that "Huawei spies." The serious problem is strategic exposure. If a company linked to a rival power touches systems related to wiretapping, organized crime, terrorism, corruption, or national security, the standard can't be "show me something's going on."

The standard should be:

Why take this risk when there are European or allied alternatives?

Spain doesn't have to choose between Washington and Beijing as if it were a brainless country. It has to act like a serious European power: accept capital when it strengthens its industry and reject dependencies when they compromise its sovereignty.

China doesn't do charity. It does geoeconomics.

It doesn't just buy factories. It buys positions.

The Spanish move could pay off if it demands local employment, Spanish suppliers, R&D, technology transfer, and European control of sensitive sectors.

But it could backfire spectacularly if we confuse investment with influence.

The final point is this:

Attracting Chinese factories might be pragmatic.

Allowing Huawei to interfere with court-ordered wiretaps is strategic negligence.
Spain needs investment, yes.

But a serious nation distinguishes between foreign capital and the nerves of the state.

I spoke with a Russian girl from Moscow here in Thailand, she confirmed that none of her friends have had mobile internet in Moscow for the past 2 weeks.

They're using a VPN to get around the telegram/instagram ban, but are afraid that Putin will shut down the VPNs.

She and everyone she knows is holding out, refusing to install MAX (the government spy messenger). But she knows that one day they may have no other choice.

Yet she's going back to Moscow anyways, and although she dislikes Putin, she claims to be "apolitical" and does nothing about it.

This is Russia in a nutshell. A country full of people who you can slowly boil like a frog. Will the people revolt before they become China or even North Korea?

Think it's impossible? It would only take 10% of Moscow residents to have 1 million protestors in red square, overtaking the Kremlin. Ukrainians did it in 2014, despite being arrested, shot, and beaten by Yanukovych's masked forces.

Will Russians rise up and do the same? I doubt it.
These are going to be an interesting next couple of months in Russia, as I've said before, Russians don't care about the ethic minority and poor living in the provinces and 2nd and 3rd tier cities.

Nothing will happen until the lives of Muscovites are affected. Now it's happening. Let's see what happens because of it.
