@lamijuakala@Speaker_Abbas History will remember leaders who spoke up when it mattered most. 👏🏽
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to the safety and security of Nigerians. Your support for State Police reflects true leadership, foresight, and dedication to protecting lives and communities.
Today marks a historic moment in the House of Representatives as the Speaker of the People’s House, Rt. Hon Tajudeen Abass, PhD @Speaker_Abbas , announced the passage of a Constitutional Amendment Bill to establish State Police in Nigeria.
This timely and significant milestone represents a major step toward strengthening the security of lives and property across the country. State policing will enhance the protection of our local communities, schools, and public spaces through decentralized law enforcement, improved intelligence gathering, and more effective responses tailored to the unique security needs of each state.
As the legislative process advances, I am optimistic that the establishment of State Police will complement existing security structures, strengthen public safety, and contribute meaningfully to a more secure, peaceful, and prosperous future for all Nigerians.
On the video circulating around, I urge us all to please refrain from making comments or speculations on this matter, as they may inadvertently affect ongoing efforts and the eventual outcome.
Let us place our trust in the security operatives who are working tirelessly and around the clock to ensure the safe return of our children and teachers.
At this critical time, our collective support, patience, and prayers are extremely needed as we all look forward to welcoming them back home safely.
SECURITY MUST WORK FOR EVERYONE
The successful rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo John-Paul, the younger sister of Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons by security operatives is a welcome development and a testament to what is possible when our security agencies act swiftly, decisively, and in coordination. We commend all officers and personnel involved in the operation and thank God for the safe return of the victims.
However, while we celebrate this success, it also reinforces an important point: every victim of kidnapping deserves the same urgency, commitment, and determination regardless of status, background, or social standing.
Our thoughts remain with the abducted schoolchildren and teachers from the communities of Yawota, Ahoro-Esiele, and other affected areas in Oriire Local Government Area, whose families continue to endure uncertainty and anguish following the tragic attacks on their schools.
The rescue of Mrs. John-Paul and her children demonstrates that with intelligence gathering, effective coordination, and sustained pressure, positive outcomes can be achieved. It is our hope that this same momentum will be deployed towards securing the safe release of the innocent children and teachers still in captivity and bringing all those responsible for these heinous crimes to justice.
As representatives of the people, we will continue to advocate for stronger security measures, improved protection for our schools and communities, and greater investment in intelligence-led operations to ensure that no family is left behind in moments of distress.
The safety of every citizen matters. The life of every child matters. And until every kidnapped victim is safely reunited with their loved ones, our work remains unfinished.
May God protect our people and grant freedom to all those still in captivity.
@theboySiwaju20@lamijuakala@MogajiLummy Let @MogajiLummy come out and tell us if we’ve ever had this kind of representation before in our federal constituency. When we say representative of the people, @lamijuakala is truly one of the best we’ve had… always representing his people well.
A strong step toward safer communities. Your consistent advocacy for decentralized policing and grassroots security is timely and commendable. Nigerians deserve a security structure that responds swiftly to local realities. State Police is no longer just a conversation, it is bec
RE: STATE POLICE
Following my motion at plenary on Tuesday on the Matter of Urgent Public Importance regarding the Oriire school kidnappings, the murder of Michael Oyedokun, and the urgent need for structural security reforms, I am delighted to share that the Presidency has announced that the constitutional framework for State Police is nearing completion.
At a meeting convened yesterday by the Presidency, the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, disclosed that the establishment of State Police requires careful consideration of constitutional and legal procedures. He further noted that significant progress has been made in recent weeks, with the process gaining substantial traction nationwide.
There is now a broad national consensus on the need for State Police, and I am optimistic that once the necessary constitutional amendments are concluded by the National Assembly, the required legislation and institutional framework for its implementation will swiftly follow.
As the saying goes, politics is local. I firmly believe that policing is equally local.
My long-standing advocacy for a decentralized policing and security architecture has reinforced my conviction that the establishment of State Police, Local Government policing units, decentralized courts, and an integrated national intelligence and surveillance network will strengthen grassroots security and significantly improve the protection of lives and property, which remains the fundamental essence of governance.
