Pixelart vs oil painting - which one do you prefer?

@Namatnieks That's a good idea (see the "fat over lean" principle). Also, check each paint tube for the opacity rating. Paints are categorized into 3 opacities. Trying to apply a low-opacity paint on top of wet, opaque paint will be frustrating. You should test how they mix together.

@Namatnieks The brush you're using might be too soft. You can use all kinds of brushes with oils but it's good to have some stiffer ones on hand. A hog bristle brush is typical.

@Alphons63 Pixel art is just the most basic and simplified type of digital art. Since you're comfortable with pixels you can start with that and gradually try out stuff like opacity, bigger resolutions, blending modes and fancy brushes. You can get interesting results that way!
