This feel very petty. And ignores that Sunak set the date for the election, and than ran the most shambolic campaign, ever. So maybe Mr @Peston we should thanks our lucky stars that he didn't also get a chance to further degrade our national reputation by messing up these events

Another manifestation of lucky Starmer and unlucky Sunak. The European Community Summit at Bleinheim is the slickest and best organised international summit hosted by the UK I have attended in years. Even the (free) ice cream is yummy (sorry to trivialise). And it is happening at Sunak’s instigation and was organised on his watch. EU delegations say they would like the UK to host it permanently (no chance, by the way). And Starmer gets the credit for his predecessor’s work. No one said politics was fair
