On Sunday -the day before the tragedy - it is claimed that Helena Wright went to Mount Gambier police station in a desperate state, asking for help.
According to the claim, officers simply told her to “come back on Monday.”
When asked about this, police have refused to confirm or deny anything. Superintendent Trent Cox hid behind the coronial investigation, saying only: “I’m not confirming anything or denying anything.”
If the claim is true, it paints a damning picture of a system that turned away a mother in crisis and told her to wait another day - a day that never came.
