For my WHOLE LIFE, I was told: "THINK FOR YOURSELF" - how does one 'reverse' that ingrained process?

I wished when I 'test drove' this car, I would have experienced the 'auto braking' - I would have immediately thought: NOT FOR ME!

Although my husband used the 'cruise control' quite often, I never did - I preferred having the 'control' - I don't even know where or how to locate cruise control in this car. I think I'm a controller! LOL ;-)

I recently switched from a 2016 to 2023. I soon realized when I was parking in a space that was tight, the 'bells' 'dings' would go off.
However, yesterday I was backing up - I can SEE THE SCREEN, plus (my 60 year old self) still physically turns around...
My 2023 car had a different 'agenda' than me.
I saw a car coming up behind me as I was SLOWLY backing up. I calculated the speed of that car, slowed down - but I guess I didn't slow down ENOUGH to satisfy the 'brain' in my car.
My car 'THREW THE BRAKES ON.' I thought, WTH is this? I'm not in charge of my own 'judgement' anymore?

After that little experience, I'm considering trading this in for an OLDER model. Grrrrrrr.
