Game Industry Marketing Consultant | Prev: Consumer Marketing Manager @Nexon_America and Sr. Brand Manager @HonkaiStarRail Thoughts/View are my own ๐ง๐ท ๐บ๐ธ
The benefits of this will transcend so many layers of the gaming industry.
Giving players a partial refund or full offline play needs to be a mandated requirement worldwide. This puts some money back into the pockets of consumers looking for their next game purchase.
But looking past that, the quantity of high quality games just this one bill will help produce, will be historical.
Imagine being an executive, and having to choose between releasing a full and complete game on launch, or providing mandatory support for 2 years afterwards, not knowing if the game will be good or not.
They will almost always choose the first choice, leading to (hopefully) more fully fleshed out games on launch.
And even the worst case scenario benefits the game industry.
If a game flops at launch, the mandatory 2 year support would require devs to retain some staff to upkeep the game instead of laying them off. Giving them ample time to find new work if needed, while still working on the game.
I see more pros than cons here.
@LeagueOfLegends I'm glad you guys are cognizant of this instead of leaning into it. Do not implement things like this into ranked without first directly involving your competitive players in the QA process, it's highly disrespectful of the time these players have invested into skill expression.
The more people and entities that get exposed for wrongdoing with zero accountability or arrests, the more faith the American people lose in the justice system. So really where does all this exposure go in the end if all it does is start and end with these monologs?
Surely it does nothing meaningful for the families and victims of COVID.
Easily one of my favorite game series! I was introduced to this series unironically through another of Toriyama's works called Blue Dragon and ever since then I've been hooked!
Absolutely loving my playthrough of DQ7 Reimagined and very much looking forward to what else they put out next ๐
@NintendoAmerica@Tetris_Official I find it mind boggling that Tetris has now been re-released, ported, re-issued and bundled over 220+ times since the initial release of the game.
Are they trying to compete with Pac-Man and Street Fighter for most re-releases? At some point this has to end, right?
@americanmcgee A shame really, this IP would resonate well with the recent generation of gamers. Someone at EA with deciding power should reevaluate your asylum pitch, I'm sure it's more than deserving of that
This pretty much sums it all up perfectly. I've always been more of a Star Trek person myself but I feel for the Star Wars fans. But that is not to say that Paramount is doing any better handling Star Trek right now either.
Both companies need to get better people in place to manage these IPs. They owe it to the fans; old, current, and future
I wrote this in another post but figured it would be important to share it here as well with the hopes that the devs can see it:
I think they lack innovative developers, or the ones they do have are definitely not players of the game themselves because the flaws are clearly visible.
They've had over a year to address player concerns and yet they take several months to resolve them, and when they do resolve some of the player concerns, they make the resolution overcomplicated.
- The $10/month sub lacks significant retention features.
- The dailies can be done in 15-20 seconds, with hardly any meaningful engagement or rewards.
- Battles aren't even close to being engaging due to lack of deck diversity, it's literally just rock paper scissors.
- No rotated out cards, no special battle modes or battle events, and a measly 15 Exp for winning, which becomes meaningless when you max level. And on that topic you barely get any meaningful rewards for leveling or hitting level milestones
- Badges are uncreative and saturated and the rare ones you do get only get to be flexed for maybe 5 seconds. It's so fast it doesn't even feel great to equip them.
- Weird and unnecessary limitations, like why can we only build 25 decks? Why can only one binder be featured?
- What even is the deeper purpose of community showcases and who actually browses them?
- Packs are released so fast that even with the monthly subscription and spending $30-50 on top of that, you can't even complete the collection.
- Who was the dev that thought Deluxe set was a good idea? If it was the lead devs idea, I fear for the future of this game.
- How many more times does the community have to ask for pack points to be merged across all packs to make completing the set more achievable?
- Decades of pokemon lore to work with and zero themed events, just the same old things on repeat with alternate art promo cards
- No roadmap whatsoever for deeper and more diverse content plans. How can they expect anyone to be excited to come back or stay retained?
So many grievances falling on deaf ears and they still wonder why it's hard to retain players.
