The internet killed the yellow pages. Netflix killed Blockbuster.
Will NFTs kill traditional art?

A met police officer exposed himself to a woman in a restaurant
He was not fired
3 days later he abducted & murdered #SarahEverard
There is currently an immense crisis of confidence in the police
And THIS is how they react to tonight’s peaceful event
This should probably go into my series on mediocrity. Easily my least popular (and most un-American) major view is the tautological one that the average person should not set life expectations based on a presumption of specialness. Lake Wobegon hates me. https://t.co/Tp5t2YID3A
And don’t underestimate minimum viable level of competence required to enjoy an activity. Adult tastes for most things tend to mature past abilities. I’m an ok artist, but not good enough to enjoy my own work (either process or output) much unless I put in more years of practice.
There’s no GPS for Mars. Rover has an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU, a gyroscope) that helps it dead-reckon distance & direction traveled & pitch & roll. It images the Sun periodically to determine its yaw. Orbiter imaging of rover helps tie all this to Mars’ geodetic network.
When we studied Greek mythology in school, we should have viewed it as a study of marketing, communications, and public relations.
There's a direct line from Homer to Gesner, Jung, to Sigmund Freud.
All myth-making strategy and story-telling / narrative building stems from it.
I've been thinking a lot about Twitter, social media, and how we need better means of communication for larger, more complex, nuanced, and actionable ideas so that we might change things.
So. I'm starting a substack. I hope you'll subscribe and join me.

On his way to be burned at the stake for heresy, at Campo de' Fiori in Rome, the philosopher Giordano Bruno has a stake put through his tongue to prevent him continuing to speak.
The absurd false equivalency from Trump's lawyer here suffers from a big flaw:
Trump's lies about the election *actually did* incite the violent assault on the Capitol.
The rioters themselves have confirmed this.
This is what the false equivalency is tacitly designed to erase.
The same words mean different things in different contexts. Language is always contextual and relational. Understanding context is key to understanding meaning. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
“Please don’t do this to me,” the child said to an officer in Rochester, New York. “You did it to yourself, hon,” the officer replied.

My small business pays nearly $600 a month per employee on health care (the employee pays another $300 or so).
So our 200-person company pays about $1.4 million a year just for health care costs - and it's still expensive for employees.
This is the sad reality for businesses.
SO many errors & distortions in the French right wing that it would take books to correct. Briefly: France is still a leading white supremacist colonial power & still has military boots on the ground & still stealing riches from Africa.
