@JTAlexander@dogsnfishing That day was literally sleep eat read eat sleep. Its not sustainable. And I'm confident few people can read at the pace I do - it's an unusual gift.
Someone who was doing 300 a year would be doing nothing else and not have time for tiktoks
@JTAlexander@dogsnfishing One weekend day with nothing going on I read two books of WoT in about 14 hours. The total page count of those two books is like 1500.
If you accept that's probably like 4-5 "typical" 300-350 page books, I could theoretically read 300 books a year. And nothing else.
@DeekUsa@grobconnolly@finlete The idea is that the first $2m has a dramatically greater impact than the final 10% of your income. Tatis himself says he used the money on better training and nutrition, etc
For others it's about supporting a family and not needing an off-season job, etc
@DeekUsa@grobconnolly@finlete They don't owe anything. BLA is like venture capital: they only owe from MLB earnings, anyone who doesn't make it just gets the money
That's also why Tatis is important: he pays for countless guys who don't make it
@OfficialJaylol@Shyvadi0 Reminds me of the challenger whining the other day about his 5 masters vs 3 masters, a d3 and himself the challenger yesterday. The matchmaker thinks you're as far ahead of your Master opponent as your D3 teammate is behind theirs. That's a reasonable match!
@DWincheste55011@JonesMarkLB@RonFilipkowski Other congressmen objected to the language of the equal protection clause because it could be construed to convey equal rights to women and others as well and they said yeah that's fine and passed it anyway.
@DWincheste55011@JonesMarkLB@RonFilipkowski Anyway it would probably be useful if people on the right understood that the Radical Republicans of the 1860s and 1870s who wrote the 14th amendment would be to the left of Joe Biden on many modern political issues and that the extreme breadth of what they wrote was debated then
@msargeant29@jonasmiller2112@YankeeWRLD@DreadPi10160029@BoredroomWyatt The biggest gift Shohei gave the Dodgers is not normal interest rates on the money. So the Dodgers get to pay him in investments and keep basically all the earnings on them in the intervening period.
That's why it reduced the present day value by so much over other deferrals
@msargeant29@jonasmiller2112@YankeeWRLD@DreadPi10160029@BoredroomWyatt Ie Shoheis(or anyone else's) deferred salary from 2024 has to go into escrow by July 1 2026, and it can be in stocks/bonds etc and the Dodgers can keep any earnings it makes above the agreed upon interest rate between then and payday
@sportingnews I once saw a kid make an amazing chase down block LeBron style and get a tech because his hand hit the backboard after deflecting the ball
It's a very stupid rule
@sportingnews This was an automatic technical foul by rule in my high school league and it was always very stupid because no one ever did it on purpose, but if you clipped the backboard on a block or rebound you were giving them 2 shots and the ball
@Metalligamer666 Sorry I was slow back to this, but part of how Tales games have always worked is that resources tend to be fairly plentiful overall but the item limit caps make it so that you are in fact at risk of running out in difficult fights. So its kind of expected to feel this way.
@Metalligamer666 It takes a little getting used to but once you get the combat flow it becomes a lot easier
I felt thar way during the early section before you have a range of characters/abilities and so it's hard to get the correct breaks etc going.
