@Bertonemyia @flygirlNHM@BioInFocus Nice. Looks like a female Chrysotus. It's one of the species with neon-yellow halteres. I'll check my material from the VI and let you know if I can figure out which species.
@Bertonemyia @NCSU_DEPP@BBlaimer A couple years ago I saw one of these ovipositing into a mountain pine beetle-killed lodgepole pine, realized what it was, didn't have a vial so dumped my sandwich and used the baggie to collect it. Looked later and this might be the only record for the family in Wyoming!
@rosscwinton@flygirlNHM@Myrmecos Don't know about flies in general, but dolichopodids are surprisingly poorly documented in Texas: just 79 species recorded (9 known only from Texas). Nebraska has about twice this number - I mean c'mon Texas, you gonna let Nebraska beat you? #Dolichopodidae
