🌀DAVID VS GOLIATH🌀: Hurricane Melissa may be a giant, a swirling Goliath 50 times the size of Jamaica, packing a forecast of 150 mph winds & 35 inches of rain.
Yet Jamaica stands strong like David. Time & again this island has faced hurricane monsters & refused to yield. Its people are rooted in strength, character, & unshakable resilience. Melissa will roar, but Jamaica will rise, rebuild, & remind the world that courage & community always outlast the storm.
Hurricane Melissa by herself is not the problem. The problem is the fact that it has been raining here incessantly for weeks now and the entire island is saturated. So if this is how corporate Kingston looks on a regular morning, what will it look like when the actual storm hits?
Jamaica needs your prayers 🇯🇲🙏🏼
There is some anti-Blackness in the way some of these overseas weather accounts are openly salivating at the possible destruction Hurricane Melissa can do to Jamaica
Diane Keaton was the quintessential hyper-independent, intelligent, witty, quirky, and rebellious Hollywood girl. She never quite fit into the typical super starlet glam, but that's what made her so appealing.
To steal one of her own quotes, "Talent is so damn attractive.." and that's exactly what made her so remarkably memorable. Deciding to never marry, glamming up menswear as her signature, standing up for animal rights, and even helping to restore and preserve the Ennis House in California for her love of architecture.. she's always been unique but more importantly, fun to watch and admire.
Her list of films, shows, and appearances is too abundant for one post. Her impact on the imagery and message of aging women on-screen is more important than we ever gave her credit for. Especially with her role in 'Something's Gotta Give', Diane famously played the menopausal 'hot girl' with Keanu Reeves and Jack Nicholson vying for her attention. It was a game changer for many older actresses in the industry and started a refreshing trend. Diane has always followed her soul and we were just lucky to be able to benefit from her journey.
Diane Keaton is an absolute icon, her impact will outlive our generation, and I hope her family & children know how grateful we were to have experienced her.
May you forever rest in the most exquisite and comfortable power suit, Miss Keaton.
Baby Boom, The First Wives Club, Father of the Bride, Something’s Gotta Give, The Family Stone, Marvin’s Room, Hanging Up, Because I Said So, Book Club, Mad Money, Annie Hall, The Godfather, Crimes of The Heart and so many others! Diane Keaton you will always be a legend!
