@philedsphil@WebbyJamesHere@MartinSLewis That's because the vast majority of people were indoctrinated from birth. There were many incredible people throughout history that were religious, that doesn't mean the religion in and of itself is justifiable and correct.
@philedsphil@WebbyJamesHere@MartinSLewis Fairytales got us far enough because we didn't know any better. But religion in Europe certainly stunted scientific discoveries. See Galileo.
@RuggedmanUK@WebbyJamesHere@MartinSLewis Christianity contradicts itself though. Love thy neighbour, unless they're a slave, in which case, do whatever you like to them except kill them.
@W_LawrenceRNMH@LawalKing@NNorthantsC To be fair, his views are consistent with biblical literature and church doctrine. He is in fact a proper Christian judging by this, because Christianity is appalling.
@SPascoalLima @K9Protection @NorthantsChief Which means 1, training physical combat and restraint on a regular basis, and 2 having the equipment, like taser, to be able to defend themselves.
@SPascoalLima @K9Protection @NorthantsChief They will have markers for sure, but that isn't too relevant if the individual officer who has to arrest them has the hand to hand combat skills of a toddler, if you see what I mean. I just believe police officers should have a physical and equipment advantage over most people
@robsmit54519473 @NorthantsChief In terms of respect of the public, I think most people respect the police and honestly anybody who doesn't have any respect for the profession is usually either a criminal or an acab silly Billy.
@robsmit54519473 @NorthantsChief Of course. I'm not saying people who aren't qualified should have them. But I'm saying that officers who have them must feel safer as they have an extra layer of defence, and I feel safer knowing they have them because they can use them against hostile people. (1)
@SPascoalLima @NorthantsChief Oh I'm sure they are, but the amount of times I've seen cops struggle to restrain someone, I'm positive the outcomes would be way better, even with a strength/size imbalance, if MMA or something similar was mandatory internal training.
@SPascoalLima @NorthantsChief I'd also love to see a police force introduce mandatory hand to hand combat like MMA as a part of the job. Seeing cops get battered because they've absolutely no ground skills or grappling skill hurts my brain. Mandatory martial arts should be a thing in my uneducated brain.
@SPascoalLima @NorthantsChief 10/10 agree. Firstly I think single crew is unsafe and secondly I think a vast majority if not all UK police should carry taser. These days you surely can't feel properly safe with pepper spray and a baton. Someone comes at you unexpectedly with a knife, you're screwed. (1)
@Mrbubba999 @IPledgeToThee To me that's honestly baffling. We see police forces all over the world carry everything up to rifles on a regular day and our police don't even carry taser as a standard issue bit of kit. Obviously I'm not a cop so opinions from those who are Kay differ. But as a civ, it's weird
@IPledgeToThee Is a taser course difficult then? Of course it's not the easiest thing in the world but.. is it actively hard? What are the pass rates like? Zero experience whatsoever so forgive my ignorance 😂
@NorthantsChief Ps, I must say, I think you're doing an excellent job 👍🏻 greatly appreciate your hard work and long may you stay with Northants Police!
