I keep getting DMs from graphic artists trying to sell me their services, and I feel bad every time I have to decline. Just to get this out there for anyone else; I'm not a streamer. I'm not a content creator on any platform that would necessitate my need of graphic arts. Appreciate the heck out of you, but you're wasting your time with me. I only play Minecraft these days 🤷♀️
I know some guys aren’t taking this well, but there’s truth here. Men need to accomplish things to feel like men.
Now, if you just tell guys to go build a house, they’ll feel confused. And that’s because young men don’t know how to accomplish things anymore because they haven’t been taught.
There was a successful add on to the game Skyrim which allowed players to build their own house by acquiring lumber, clay, bricks, and the like. Players forged nails from iron ore, planted gardens, built greenhouses, kitchens, bedrooms for children and spouses, basements with a real forge, and even aquariums for fish.
This was a hit with gamers because it gave them the sense of accomplishing something good. It made them feel like they built their own homestead and provided for their families.
There’s nothing wrong with playing a video game and having fun, but it did strike me that men have a hunger for accomplishment so strong that they’d even work hard to virtually do it.
You see, men want to create. And most don’t know how.
Older generations felt confidence because they knew how to make things. Perhaps it was a carpenter making furniture or a home. Or a farmer growing crops and raising animals. Or a mason laying bricks, a welder working metal, or even an artist with a painting or a composer at the piano. Today’s men don’t get nearly as many chances to create and thus they lack a sense of accomplishment and confidence.
Sure, artists and computer builders feel this today. But how many young men can build a birdhouse, let alone a home? How many can weld metal? How many can create a brick wall? How many can do basics home repairs? How many can garden or raise animals for food?
I truly believe that if young men dedicated themselves to YouTube videos and found a mode of creation that worked for them, they would build their self confidence and become more attractive to women.
Sadly these arts were largely not passed down from dads, but since we live in the Information Age, we can at least learn online. And I think it’s time for men to learn how to create and feel that sense of accomplishment that only comes from mastering new tasks.
Be strong, men. Build a house, and if you can’t, start with a birdhouse. It’s not where you begin but where you finish that matters. When you spend your time chasing real goals and real results, you will be richly rewarded.
I always thought America was one country 🇺🇸
But Americans on X keep saying
"Well in MY state it's totally different"
Texas. California. New York. Florida.
It sounds like 50 small countries in a trench coat.
Is that a fair way to think about it?
Please quote-tweet with your state flag! 🙋
Praying for the people of Great Britain because what's happening over there is horrific. Rest in peace, Henry Nowak, and may you eventually receive the justice you deserve.
Every year, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring.
They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died.
France also gave us this land as American soil. #MemorialDayWeekend
@DefiantLs You know how simple songs are used to help teach small children basic things like the alphabet and so on? I'd assume that this is similar reasoning. Simple songs and rhyming chants are easy to follow and understand, requiring no real depth of thought.
@catturd2 And damn near every game is broadcast on some pay-to-watch streaming service. I miss being able to just turn on a local channel and see my team.
