One of the smartest things about SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY is how every character reflects Peter's journey.

• Hulk = Suppressing the monster inside.
• Yelena = Peter's loneliness.
• Punisher = Choosing good over revenge.
• Jean Grey = A reflection of all three.

None of these characters were included just for fan service. Every single one served a purpose and mirrored what Peter was going through, making the story much stronger.
