@wildstwawberry ya I sour on UB and MtG as a whole a little more with every new set. it’s genuinely grating to try and focus on a game only for someone to slap down what is essentially an un-skippable ad for a different IP
new urn is really neat but I wish they would
1. put the drop off locations back to where they were
2. double the time required to deposit
3. cut the favored urn resistances in half

stopped playing with a buddy of mine cuz he’d just run it down and die under the nearest objective off cooldown, going 2-11 every game. he started playing wall breaker and suddenly he’s still 2-11 but the enemy shrines are gone by like 20 minutes
victor is a brain dead character and i can admit that but these wall breaker builds have somehow attracted the most braindead people ever to play this character
This is why I think developers should be meaner. The fact a simple interaction about the artistic direction of a game spiralled into a controversy because of the fragile entitlement of gamers and grifters is why I think developers should be assholes honestly
@sagabal2@shin_kale_rider not really? its more that people are deliberately trying to conflate the concept of powerscaleing, with annoying powerscaling debates as if they're not two different things
I understand people's frustration given its association with dumb "my fave beats your fave" stuff, but powerscaling is just a broad term for analyzing the relative strengths and abilities of characters, and is fairly important to lots of stories.
@AbdulPadela@HughGriffin2@nise_yoshimi none of this changes the fact that understanding the "scaling" of the murderer and the girl is the driving source of tension in this hypothetical narrative. whether nor not the girl beats him up at the end doesn't negate the need for consistent physical stakes
when Odysseus is captured by Polyphemus the tension is created because, using the narrative, the reader will "scale" Polyphemus to being significantly stronger than Odysseus and his crew. the story wouldn't work If they could randomly beat him for no reason
it’s really obvious that the people that’re vehemently against power scaling as a concept are just trying to play a semantic game to avoid feeling like they’re agreeing with those annoying “Goku solos your fave” teenagers
Powerscaling is not engaging with story.
It’s using minor details and fun facts to make an argument for a hypothetical scenario that you made up in your head.
"Nito's runback sucks dude"
DS1 fans: Oh yeah it fucking reeks
"Oceiros's runback is such shit"
DS3 fans: Yeah that one's no fun
"Logarius's runback is ridiculous"
Bloodborne fans: 100%, it totally is
"Smelter Demon's runback is awful and tedious"
DS2 fans: UM ACTUALLY
most dudes would probably leave you but that probably has more to do with the fact the Venn diagram of “people who do these insane tests” and “people capable of a healthy relationship” is two very distant circles
I love DS2 but using a sped up video from someone who’s clearly played the game before to pretend that this run back is “fine” is the most disingenuous shit ever lmao
