We want you to be the best department you can be, paying below regional averages and with a high teaching load that minimizes the time available for research.
I don’t know what’s going on in secondary education, but MANY students are graduating from high school unprepared for the demands of university study and more importantly lacking emotion regulation skills, self-awareness and resilience.
Is it any wonder everyone is burnt out?
Reflecting on this semester and planning for fall: what policies have you used to get students to come to class? Ours student attendance is abysmal as the semester progresses. Help!

Serious question: why is drinking so prevalent in academia? It seems to be provided and encouraged at many events. I’m honestly not judging; I just worry about the people who struggle with it and might feel stressed about it always being around.

Well I log into Threads in this account after creating it there yesterday, and the account was banned. Like wth. I promise I’m not a bot. I just want to be anon 😩
@SarcasmProf I mean, this app is tanking and Threads is pretty hopping. I am giving it a try. Most people on there are already loving it. My only complaint is I wish I could import who I follow on Twitter.
@SarcasmProf Listens, says what they mean and what they will actually DO, doesn’t just do lip service to faculty and then end up doing something different to please admin, is an advocate for faculty members
Hot take: Graduate Assistants-if you plan on going into academia after graduating, you need to care as much about your teaching as you do about your research.
Letters of recc often come from people that teach alongside you. Make sure they can say something good.

Asked a question in class and the fresh-out-of-HS student responded, “Hell yeah!”
Definitely appreciate the enthusiasm, but how old am I again? 😬
