The movie about the red white and blue boy scout absolutely matters in other markets like China where things like Cap America never does as well.

Superhero fatigue and especially poor reception to superhero movies is definitely a thing among the GA.

Thunderbolts made 380 million after its whole run, superman broke 500 million in 3 weeks.

Until recently marketing budgets were not as public knowledge so that 2x-2.5x formula was to help account for the marketing budget as well.
