Peter is not correct about me in this case.
I have always known that dangers from Earth will also pose dangers to Mars. Obviously so. However, the immense difficulty of traveling to Mars means that there is a much higher likelihood of mitigating risks originating from Earth.
A clear example of major risk reduction would be a deadly pandemic. Since it takes 6 months to reach Mars, there is an automatic 6 month quarantine!
Even traveling at the speed of light, a deadly computer virus or AI attack can potentially be stopped due to Mars being ~4 to ~20 light-minutes from Earth.
This doesn’t mean that a Mars civilization eliminates all risk, but it absolutely greatly reduces the risk of consciousness being extinguished.
Moreover, Mars is a stepping stone to extending consciousness broadly within our solar system and ultimately to millions of stars within our galaxy, which would extend the probable lifespan of consciousness as we know it by many orders of magnitude.
That said, what I personally find most motivating is not the risk reduction aspect of extending life beyond Earth, but rather the inspiring nature of exploration and being out there among the stars!
Perhaps we will meet aliens or find the remains of long-dead civilizations that lasted millions of years …
The biggest loser of this Wike - Fubara debacle is Chijioke Ihunwo.
When the crisis started, this guy carried everything on his head and took the fight personally.
He went as far as removing Wike's name from the secretariat building in his LGA. A building he didn't build.
Of course, he was rewarded with the chairmanship position for Obio/Akpor LGA.
But when Wike did his political comeback, Chijioke Ihunwo was among the first set to lose their positions. Fubara even warned them to perish their political ambitions.
As per Nigerian politics, the guy still summoned courage to join APC in Rivers State, pledging allegiance to Wike. But Wike was not impressed. He knew what he wanted and where to get them all.
Chijioke Ihunwo summoned courage and bought APC house of assembly nomination form. And Wike did them dirty in Abuja. All of them from Fubara's camp were screened out.
Now, Fubara has collapsed all his structures for Wike's rainbow movement after juicy positions have already been taken by Wike's men.
This is how a lot of them kissed goodbye to their political career. And Chijioke Ihunwo's case is even the worst. That guy really dealt with Wike. 😅
Peter Obi and Kwankwaso would just lay low and be preparing one or two.
Then the opponents would just come out and begin to claim that they're losing momentum.
And with almost zero stress,
Obi would drop one picture and Kwankwaso would do one media round...
Boom, and the same opponents would spend another 1 month talking about them.
These guys have really hacked this media thing.
In developed countries, every leader is working toward reducing cost of gas, groceries and general cost of living.
If for instance, gas prices stood at an average of $3 before your election.
And during your tenure, gas prices hiked to an average of $4.
The government is considered a complete failure. Even your party members would be on your neck to resign because they're going to lose elections if nothing is done about gas prices.
But here in Nigeria, Tinubu took fuel price from N250 to N1,300 and people are praising him. Clapping for him that he's done well.
The whole thing is just unbelievable.
