I've simulated the draft a zillion times. I have yet to find one outcome where the Nets are better off with 12 and 17 than they are with 6.

If the Thunder discuss deals to move up in the draft, I would keep an eye on the Nets (No. 6), Mavericks (No. 9), and Bucks (No. 10) as potential trade partners.

OKC is viewed as a strong trade-up candidate with the 12th, 17th, and 37th overall picks this year, as well as a war chest of future draft assets.

For fun, let’s say Ament IS the guy. He and MPJ are your two forwards and primary scorers. How do you build out the rest of the starting five:

-Is Demin your 1 or 2?
-What kind of player is in the backcourt with Egor? Scorer? Lockdown defender?
-Rim-runner or bruiser at center?

Nate Ament would be a good player for the Brooklyn Nets, maybe even a very good player. Taking him wouldn't be doomsday.

But taking another off-ball scorer when you don't have a single on-ball creator on the roster is bad team-building.

I feel like we’re underestimating just how bad the Nets roster is.

Barring a trade, they’ll leave the draft with a bottom-3 roster in the league with Chicago and Sacramento.
