@GPFLH @dusterdw So the effective working temp of road salt is 15F and above. At 14F it's effectiveness drops by 86% and keeps dropping as it gets colder.
Now, I definitely don't need to wait to drive to wherever, however, that doesn't dismiss the fact that sunlight helps with snow and ice melt.

@dusterdw I believe the combination of sunlight and traffic aids in the process of melting the ice. Not enough sun during drivetime, the roads stay icy.
