@DucksNPucks You can't pay 18mil for one player. So it'll be wonderful when the Flyers finally have their 1C, but they won't be able to do much else! On the other hand, the Ducks have a good core, so stick with them, and don't f*ck up 8 f*ckin first rounders!
@NHLxForum I let him go. (8) first round picks over four years! Yes, losing him hurts, but the 18mil on one player is suicidal. Those picks are a lot of ammo for a top 6 C. NTM, Gauthier gonna bend Verbeek over.
@TellersJackson@Phlyers24@Fujipredator@FlyersJohnny Pundits are already looking at Helenius' ceiling as a top-line center. Either way, a lot of draftboards had Buium and Helenius in the top-10. Both fell to the Flyers, so why they went for a player near the bottom of the first round is criminal. Literally too easy and they f'd up
@glimmerinplay@PodStreetHoags It's a breath of fresh air to read a sane take re: this front office. The reason for this offer-sheet at all is because of the draft void. They don't draft well, and so they must overpay - in cap and assets - to make up for it. NOT how you build a contender.
@DanKnightly impossible only because they continue to get in their own way. Extending/retaining certain players rather than trade them coupled with poor drafting, they're further behind than they should be.
Everyone is excited for the #Flyers big offer sheet, and it is exciting for sure, but if they could just draft better they wouldn't even have to do it. It's a symptom of a poorly run scouting dept, and if the #Ducks don't match, the Flyers will be in cap hell in short order.
The Ducks had the player.
They had the rights.
They had the time.
They had the cap space.
And somehow Pat Verbeek still let another team dictate the terms.
How is that acceptable?
@RonoAnalyst I don't forget. If traded, I'll be a big fan of whatever team he plays for, bc watching him play will be a reminder why the Flyers are never very good.
@KimJongBettman@frank_seravalli maybe because winning should be priority 1, and to win within a hard cap, you need your best players to have team-friendly deals.
