@MehreenFaruqi 7.1% was salt in the wound. My uni increased fees during COVID despite changing to a 'self taught' model with 3hrs of contact time per semester & banning us from using campus resources due to social distancing. If radicalising students is the goal, then lab/libs are doing great!
Bit sus that @AlboMP took credit and threw himself a party for applying annual indexation to welfare payments but hasn't made a peep about the $4.8k he just added to my HECS debt 🤔
3 months jail or a $50k fine for peaceful protest?!
I'll be on @theprojecttv tonight to explain why Human Rights Watch believes @PMalinauskasMP's new anti-protest penalties in South Australia are dangerous, excessive & disproportionate
@hrw#ProtectProtest#ClimateCrisis
Whatever happened to the land of the 'fair go'?
Australia has a much more unequal distribution of gains from economic growth compared to other countries. 93% went to the top 10%!
It's inequality on steroids #QandA
Let’s call it what it is. Racism.
This would never be allowed to happen to a site of similar cultural importance to white Australia… or probably anywhere in the world.
Approved by WA Government and Australian environment minister #auspol

@jezheywood Had mutual obs during uni when they cancelled a class & forced me into PT. Every app was read & if I used the same cover letter they'd call to ask why. Regularly had my payments cancelled due to my job guy not showing up to our meetings. The replies here are out of touch & gross.
Every fed MP who voted for 43% emission reduction target knew it was below what science demanded for safe climate. Every MP who voted for Safeguard Mechanism knew it permitted new coal and gas. To now be outraged that coal is approved is disingenuous. It’s what they voted for.
In the same week the Albanese Govt gave next to nothing in the Budget for the environment, Minister Plibersek has tonight signalled her intent to approve a new coal mine - the Isaac River Coal Mine.
A new coal mine in koala habitat.
Bad move.
Wrong way Minister, go back 🛑
The age of independence for centerlink is 22, but single parent payments stop at age 14 and 17 year-olds are 'adult enough' to be taking out tens of thousands in HELP loans.
The math ain't mathing! #Auspol2023
Question for the young people - how tf do we not lose hope?
Tax cuts for the wealthy while keeping job seekers + youth in poverty, profiting off student debts that are going to be with us until we die, demolishing the climate etc etc. Australia does not care about us. #auspol
@yeahnahangie the pressure of having to work at that age to contribute to my family knowing it was the only thing keeping us from going under was just... why tf are we expecting school students to pick up the government's slack??
Australian Governments are now planning to spend more on exacerbating climate change through fossil fuel subsidies than they are on getting ready for climate disasters.
The $57.1 billion of planned fossil fuel subsidies is
14 times more than the Australian Disaster Ready Fund. 🤯
@JEChalmers@AlboMP@AustralianLabor@SenKatyG Keeping job seekers under the poverty line, profitting off student debt & cutting NDIS while forking out billions for submarines, stadiums, & tax cuts for the rich... What dictionary are you using, Jim? Not sure 'help' is the word you're looking for.
