Sony responded to the backlash regarding their decision to end physical discs come January 2028.
They told investors they will proceed with their decision "cautiously" saying so far they have not seen any negative impact to sales and that the data indicates users have already chosen digital.
In my opinion this is significant because they are signaling to investors if they were to see an increase in physical sales over a significant period of time or a sudden drop in sales, they would consider reversing the decision.
Sony revealing they are cautious about this means they are unsure of what to expect and they are a little nervous.
Remember when Xbox got absolutely torn to shreds for trying to turn physical discs for the Xbox One into digital licenses...and then Sony put this video out to show everyone they woud never do such a thing.
@PlayStation You are killing ownership. You are killing legal preservation. You are killing discoverability. You are killing publishers. You are killing developers. This is a move that might slightly improve bottom lines, but tear down every other aspect of this medium. Well done! You f*d up!
